4 Tips for Proper Installation of Your Split Air Conditioner

08 September 2022

More and more buildings today maximise split air conditioners due to many reasons.

For one, split air conditioners run quietly. Split air conditioners can also be energy-efficient, especially if they come with an inverter system. These air conditioners likewise do not require too much construction work or modifications inside the property. The only thing that should be done right to make them work optimally is to install them accordingly.

Installing split air conditioners may look complicated. But if the following tips are carried out, property owners like you can expect your cooling system to operate properly.

1. Select a Strong Wall Area

One tip that should be done when installing your split air conditioner is to choose a strong wall. The outdoor and indoor units of your system may be somehow light but opting for a strong wall ensures that they do not suddenly fall once installed. A solid wall should be able to hold your indoor unit throughout its service life. You must also avoid installing on uneven walls to avoid accidents and property damage. Your chosen wall should likewise be able to handle the brackets and other elements that may be installed afterwards.

2. Place the Units Properly

Another tip that you must consider is placing the units in proper locations. The indoor unit must be placed in an area where the air can be distributed evenly. It must also be mounted on the wall at least 8 feet from the floor. The outdoor unit, alternatively, should be in an open space to allow the heat to be released freely. If the outdoor unit cannot be placed in a flat outdoor space, you must find an external wall that can hold it steadily. The distance between these units, ultimately, must not exceed 15 metres to facilitate seamless air processing.

3. Install Brackets Carefully

The mounting plate, brackets, and other mounting units should all be installed properly to ensure that the indoor unit will not fall or become unstable during its operation. An outlet hole must also be drilled so that the tubing that connects the indoor and outdoor units can be placed. Securing the wall area of your split air conditioner, however, should still be prioritised. Hence, you must invest in a bracket that is fire-rated. One bracket you can install is the Split Ezy Fire since it boasts an integral fire-rated intumescent penetration seal.

4. Establish Good Connection

One more tip that you must do to install your split air conditioner properly is to ensure good connections of its wires and pipes. The electric wires of the units must be connected according to the instructions of the manufacturer to prevent them from obtaining some damage. The copper pipes or tubing should also be connected between the units properly so they can function optimally. But before connecting them, you must clean them first with a vacuum pump. Establishing a good connection can ensure that your air conditioner will last for a long time.
